I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley. I studied Integrative Biology and design, with a focus on evolutionary biology and bio-inspired design. I’m also an accomplished artist, scientific illustrator, and photographer. My long-term goal is to move forward with a career at the intersection of biology and design. Currently, I’m based in the Bay Area, and also frequent my homes in Austin, TX and Starkville, MS.
I believe our most challenging problems today will not be solved by members of any one field, but by an integrated team. Diversity in perspective and thought is crucial for good science and good design. At Berkeley, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse teams to build creative solutions to pressing problems. I have structured my education to include perspectives from many disciplines and schools of thought, and I decidedly describe my interests of study as interdisciplinary. As a student, I aspire to pursue a strong, interdisciplinary education that will prepare me for a future of challenging research and design.
In every project I undertake, whether research or applied design, I strive to apply a critical eye to my work and that of others. The best work, I find, is done when we have the strength to challenge our own ideas and creations.
